6-8m waves hit Cote d'Azur (ehem - really 2-3m !)

Sailed 4.5 in 20-40 knots of wind yesterday in on-shore conditions. Nice sailing and jumping. Waves seemed to have wreaked havoc on the coast. See photo for one of the waves hitting the promenade at Nice (compare the size of the wave to the hotels behind it). The papers talk of 6-8m high waves but to me they seemed more like 2-3m but when they hit the beach, they sure look impressive!
